That\u2019s how I\u2019d describe it.\nHere\u2019s a guide to his books, each with a short description and links where you can find them (no sponsorships here \u2014 just helping out the lazy ones so you don\u2019t have to go through the hassle).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Kitchen Confidential (2000)<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The extended and more in-depth continuation of his 1999 New Yorker article, this book gives us an unflinching look at the early days of Bourdain\u2019s career \u2014 his life, his work, his struggles with addiction, the highs and the lows, all the way up to his success as executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in New York.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">An absolute must-read. Rating: 9\/10 Buy it here: FELTRINELLI \u2013 LIBRACCIO \u2013 AMAZON<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Anthony Bourdain: A Cook\u2019s Tour: (2001)<\/i><\/b><b><i> (2001)<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Search of the Perfect Meal.  \nLater reissued as:  A Cook\u2019s Tour: Global Adventures in Extreme Cuisines<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The title comes from the British expression \u201ca cook\u2019s tour\u201d, meaning \u201ca quick guide\u201d to a topic or place. This book chronicles Bourdain\u2019s travels around the world \u2014 expect exotic dishes, bold experimentation and encounters with locals. With his trademark irreverent style, Bourdain also paints vivid portraits of major culinary figures such as David Chang and Alice Waters. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">His sharp sarcasm still hits the mark. Of course, Bourdain also wrote actual cookbooks, but I\u2019ve chosen to focus on the titles that tell the story behind the recipes \u2014 the ones that reveal more about the man, his voice, and his restless, brilliant soul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, a final \u201cgift\u201d: two books released after Bourdain\u2019s tragic death in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Anthony Bourdain &amp; Laurie Woolever: Wordl Travel. (2021)<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An Irriverent Guide by Anthony Bourdain &amp; Laurie Woolever <\/span><\/i><b><i>(2021)<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born from one of the last conversations between Laurie Woolever and Anthony, this book is a blend of travel guide and interview \u2014 divided by country, it stands as Bourdain\u2019s final legacy to all of us. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Rating: 8\/10 Buy it here: FELTRINELLI \u2013 LIBRACCIO \u2013 AMAZON<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A book that tells us about Tony:<\/p>\n<p><b><i>In the Weeds (2022)<\/i><\/b><b><i>. In giro per il mondo e dietro le quinte con Anthony Bourdain <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>(2022)<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around the World and Behind the Scenes with Anthony Bourdain<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Written by Tom Vitale, Bourdain\u2019s friend, colleague and travel companion for sixteen years, this is the real \u201cbehind the scenes\u201d of Tony\u2019s shows. It\u2019s a literary trick that lets him tell not only production stories but also the human side \u2014 relationships, emotions and the everyday intensity of working alongside Bourdain.
